Project Description
The Marcus Garvey Supportive Housing development at 461 Chester Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn, is a 52-unit residential building designed to provide stable, affordable housing for individuals reentering the community after incarceration. Developed by L+M Development Partners in collaboration with The Osborne Association, the building offers a vital housing solution for formerly incarcerated individuals who might otherwise face homelessness or housing instability. This initiative is part of a larger redevelopment effort that spans 174 units, all designed to offer long-term affordability and community-centered living.

The building features 40 studio apartments and 12 one-bedroom units, with rents affordable to a range of low- and very low-income households. Located near the Rockaway Avenue 3 train station and the B60 bus route, the site offers residents easy access to public transit, jobs, and services throughout Brooklyn and the greater New York City area. On-site amenities include a landscaped courtyard, laundry facilities, community room with a computer lab, and free Wi-Fi, all contributing to a stable and supportive living environment.
